Prawn & Broccoli Stir Fry (Chinese Style Cooking Recipe)

Welcome to Xiao’s Kitchen. My name is Xiao Wei, ever since my Mother taught me how to cook at an early age, I have always had a strong passion for Cooking. My family still live in Inner Mongolia in the northern part of China, where I visit each year and pick-up new Asian/Chinese recipes.

275g Raw Prawns
1 Small Broccoli
1 Egg White
2 Tbsp Cornflour
1 Tsp White Pepper
4 Cloves Garlic
½cm Ginger
Salt to Taste

Finely Chop the garlic & ginger
Cut broccoli into bite-size pieces
De-vein the prawns, then dry excess water off them
Mix prawns, egg white and cornflour in a mixing bowl
Blanch broccoli for 2 minutes in boiling water then drain
Heat 1 litre of oil in a wok and fry the prawns for ½ a minute then drain
Heat 1 Tbsp of oil in a wok
Add garlic, ginger, broccoli and prawns and stir-fry for 2 minutes
Add ground white pepper, salt and stir
Place on a dish and serve

  2. Is there a substitute I can use for cornstarch that will still help me velvet the shirmp? Im trying to reduce the carbohydrates on this for a slightly healthier meal.
