How to Make Dumplings (Mandu) – Part 1 – Skin Problems | Johnny Row Cooks

I struggle, so you don’t have to. In this first part of the dumpling series, I make homemade dough and dumpling skins for the first time. It really sucked, probably because I suck at rolling dough.. but they did taste good. If you have a little patience and like to cook – do this. If you don’t, go buy a pack of pre-made dumpling wrappers.

Flour, water and salt.. easy!

Make sure to check out part 2 as the meat filling recipe is really really, really good. .

What do you think?

  1. Johnny, you need to let the dough rest for longer than 10 minutes to let the gluten relax. That is why your dough was crumbly and really tough to knead. I usually rest the dough for a minimum of 1 hour. This will make the kneading process MUCH easier, quicker and better.

  2. hello.. …I would really like to know the next step once there stuff and seald… I steam or fry the dumplings ???

  3. I honestly enjoyed your videos..? great instructions… I am now a subscriber… ??? im going to attempt making dumplings now.. ? your so hilarious.. And honest. Great job.. Serioustly..?

  4. Johnny the best thing about this tutorial is that you are a novice dumpling maker and you are making is other novices feel so much better knowing that it’s doesn’t come out perfect on the first try.. unless you have god hands!
